NextGen ST

NextGen ST is run by A-Level students at Kolej Yayasan UEM under the Initiative Club’s Project Blossom. This page explains what we collect and why. We aim to follow Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010.

What we collect

Your email address and password when you create an account. Passwords are stored encrypted by our login provider and we cannot read them. If you use Google to log in, Google shares your name and email with us.
The display name you choose, which anyone visiting the site can see next to your comments and articles.
Things you create on the site: saved words, comments and articles.
Whatever you write to us through the contact form.
Your email address, if you subscribe to new article emails. It is removed as soon as you unsubscribe, and requests you never confirm are removed after two weeks.
How many times pages and articles are opened, and about how many different visitors we get each day. We keep totals only. We do not store your IP address, use a tracking cookie or record what any one person reads. To avoid counting one visit twice, we use an anonymous code that changes daily and is deleted the next day.

Why we collect it

We use it only to run your account, show your content and reply to you. We do not sell your data and we do not show advertising.

Younger readers

Many of our readers are school students. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before you create an account. Use a nickname as your display name, and do not share your address, phone number or school details in comments or articles.

Other services we use

Our site runs on Vercel and Supabase. Word meanings come from the Free Dictionary API. Your browser asks it directly, so it receives the word you look up and your internet address. Podcast videos come from YouTube and load only when you press play. New article emails are sent through Gmail, a Google service.

Your choices

You can change your display name, remove saved words and delete your comments at any time. To delete your account or get a copy of your data, email nextgenst25@gmail.com.
